Hi there, I’m Caroline Strunk – I provide individual, couples, and career counseling in Northern Virginia. If you’ve found your way here, I hope you’ll stay awhile, get to know me, and learn how counseling can make a difference in your life.
Therapy is a chance to slow down and step into a safe, confidential space away from the external world to explore your inner one. To sit in a quiet room with another human being who is unconditionally kind but honest, and also trained to recognize patterns of unhealthy behavior, irrational thinking, and the invisible blocks that keep you from being the best version of yourself.
My counseling style is warm, collaborative, and non-judgmental. I am a person-centered therapist with an integrative approach that draws from fluid, abstract frameworks such as psychodynamic and existential therapy, as well as more concrete, evidence-based practices such as solution-focused and cognitive behavioral therapy. I also use creative and mindfulness-based techniques in my work.
What this means is that I view counseling as the process of untangling the emotional knots in your life, but that I also believe insight alone isn’t enough to create change. As your therapist, I will help you channel those thoughts and feelings into goals and action steps so that you are empowered to pursue the life you’ve always wanted.
Although I work with clients of all ages and backgrounds, I specialize in the following areas:
Women’s issues (perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, adjusting to life as a new mom)
Domestic violence, sexual assault, and emotional abuse
Multicultural issues and counseling Asian Americans
Relationship and sexuality issues
Career exploration and development
Counseling adolescents (self-esteem, body image, life transitions, anxiety, stress)
If you’d like to request an appointment or learn more about my counseling services and workshops, please reach out by filling out an online form or contacting me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I am a resident in counseling working under the supervision of Megan MacCutcheon, LPC (VA License #0701005482) at Vienna Counseling.
